Roy "Bud" L. Tackett

After 30 years as a job setter at General Motors, Bud retired and had time to enjoy many hobbies. Bud was a skilled mechanic who enjoyed working on classic cars and visiting many Classic Car Shows. He traveled to 48 states with his wife and children on many wonderful vacations. He loved people and was a friend to many.

Bud is survived by his wife of 59 years Pauline Jones Tackett, two children: Russell Tackett (Jeneen) and Jennifer McClain (Aron). He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Megan Mahoy (Steven), Brandon Tackett (Kathryn), Alex McClain, Jessica McClain, Sam Tackett, Ben McClain (Chelsey), Katherine Tackett, and Grace McClain. Bud is proceeded in death by his parents: Herbert Tackett and Maude Caudill and by 7 brothers and 2 sisters: Infant son, Elmer Tackett, Lillian Arrand, Milton Tackett, Ernest Tackett, Helen Jessee, DeForest Tackett, Bill Tackett, and Don Tackett.

Bud attended Breckinridge Training School in Morehead, KY and remained in contact with his graduating class throughout his entire life.

He was a Christian and a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ where he enjoyed serving as a Trustee.

He proudly served for six years in the Army National Guard Reserves during the Vietnam Era.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Village Green and at Reid Hospital for their wonderful love and care.

Bud will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and love for his family.

Although Bud may no longer be with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services for Bud will be held on Thursday December 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, Pleasant Hill, Ohio.
