

He was born September 24, 1932, in Gordon, Ohio to the late Oscar and Mildred (Peden) Shepard. He was a graduate of Arcanum High School and received his BS from Defiance College.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Bill spent most of his teaching career in the Greenville City School System at the Junior High building teaching 7th and 8th grade history and map study. After teaching, Bill worked in security at the Arcade Building in Dayton, Ohio and GTI in Greenville, Ohio. He also volunteered at Beechwood Golf Course for many years.
Bill loved golfing and was in several Darke County leagues. Other pastimes included fishing in his pond, working on his 10-acre farm and storytelling.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Jean (Williams) Shepard and siblings Roger (Betty) Shepard, Jim (Joan) Shepard and Carol (Larry) Ritz.
Bill is survived by his children Beth (John) Dutro, David Shepard and Steven (Stef) Shepard all of Greenville; grandchildren Morgan Shepard, Maddie (Ryan) Shepard, Kyle (Sharon) Swabb, Tyler (Megan) Studebaker, Addie (Stew) Clifton, Darci (Mark) Miller, Robert (Mybell) Studebaker, Ricky (Nicole) Studebaker, Matt Dutro and fiancé Stacie Burk and Kristen (Cory) Shoemaker; 23 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Jane Bickham and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday August 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio. Private graveside services will be held later at the convenience of the family.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to Trustwell Living at Oakley Place or the Charity of your choice.
