

A native of Greenville, Agnes graduated from Greenville High School and magna cum laude from Furman University.
Agnes was employed at the Shriner’s Hospital Greenville Unit for 46 years and at her retirement was serving as the Director of Medical Records. She was a Certified Medical Records Technician.
Her smile was very disarming and her southern charm very sweet. She never met a stranger no matter where in the world she and her husband were. She was fiercely loyal to her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father Wilmot Douglas Smith and her mother Agnes Pearson Smith.
Agnes is survived by her husband of 32 years Albert E. Fitzgerald, daughters Debbie H. Croft (Andy), Amy E. Howard, Meg H. Wilkins (Chris), son Dr. Richard S. Howard, Jr. (Michael), step-daughter Allison F. Barham (Steve). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christopher Wilkins (Amanda), Michael Wilkins, Jason Croft, Kevin Croft (Terri), Emily Barham, Jacob Barham, Malauno Howard, and Octa Howard; and two great-grandchildren Nora Claire Croft and A. J. Croft.
Services will be graveside at Springwood Cemetery on 30 August 2021 at 2pm and officiated by Reverend Toni Pate, Agnes first cousin and pastor of Trinity Church of Greenville.
