I met Jonathan this time last year.  I was getting chemo and he was too.  This is my third experience with cancer and I was not in a good place.  I sat next to Jonathan and he ended up telling me about the miracles he had experienced.  He had a profound peace about him.  His story gave me peace.  He told me he had gone to the mall and gotten his daughter a pair of Converse high tops.  Yellow.  We shared stories about our girls who have so much in common.  The time flew by and I knew I had just had a special encounter with a special man.  I never saw Jonathan again but have shared his story with many and will never forget him.  I have no doubt we will meet again.  I look forward to it. 

Jonathan, you are deeply missed and loved. I know you are in Heaven, with our Lord and Savior. No longer in pain after putting up a tremendous fight. I know you are not gone from us, but having adventures that we cannot fathom. I will forever remember the adventures we went on, your love and dedication to family and friends. You will always have a special place in my heart. Rest easy, but drop by from time to time. This is not the end, but the beginning, and one day we will see each other again. We will go on new adventures. 

Johnathan was a caring person, and we were so happy to see him at the Rice's Christmas events. He had a kind voice when we spoke to him. As a young man, he was so full of adventure and always laughing or smiling. 
Rest in Peace.

What an amazing neighbor Jonathan has been for these 10-plus years that we have lived beside him. He has been so kind and thoughtful to always be there for us, whether it’s leaving fresh fruit and vegetables underneath our carport for when we get home, or to come quickly to chase away the creepy, crawling critters that I might find in my yard. He was always just a phone call away, and one of the nicest and kindest person I’ve ever known. We will miss him dearly, but we look forward in expectancy to seeing him one day when our bodies will be made whole again! Thank you Jonathan for being such a good friend to us! 🙏


Jonathan was more than my son in law,
he was a close friend to me.  We vacationed together, wood worked together and worked at Mitsubshi together. If I ever called him, Jonathan would come and help me even if he was sick.
Jonathan will be missed dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss of a great man. Jonathan was a close friend that I consider family. He always had a smile and a laugh for me. We worked together for years and I enjoyed those times we had. He helped me and my family getting our home set up.  I looked forward to our visits and excursions over the last few years. I'd catch him up on people he knew at  Mitsubishi and talk about whatever was on his mind.  One thing I know for sure is he loved his whole family, especially his daughter. He talked about her alot. He was so proud of her in every way. I'm a better person for knowing Jonathan. He will be dearly  missed by me and my family.

Lisa and Kaitlyn, Keith and Loni, Wanda and Lee, and all of the other Rice family members that our family know and love, too many to list them all on this venue. Our heart aches to learn that Jonathan is no longer here with us. He fought this battle for so long. Lisa I can remember seeing Jonathan at the hospital multiple times when you were sick and he asked our families to pray for you and we did. Kaitlyn your Daddy loved you more than you may ever know and was so excited to have a baby girl and was proud of you from the start.  Lisa and Kaitlyn, you both will be especially in my prayers from now on. I will pray Col. 1:9-14 for you. We will ask God to send the Holy Spirit to comfort you now and in the days to come. 
The last time we saw Jonathan was Aug. 30, he had a smile on his face like he always did. He is like the cousin or brother that we didn't have and even in his pain, he said if there is ever anything we needed just call. That is true friendship! We are so thankful to have the Rice family as part of lives. They just don't make them like that anymore.
