Bobby Lee "Bob" Dockham

He was the son of the late Bernice May Shaw and Harold Kenneth Dockham. Bob grew up in Ware Shoals, SC, where he met and married his beloved late wife, Wilma Abrams Dockham. Bob and Wilma were married for 61 years, and he served faithfully as her caregiver for several years before her death in 2014.

Bob was most proud of his two children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. But he was also deeply proud of having served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Savannah, GA, Plattsburgh, NY, and North Africa. After retiring from the Air Force, Bob carried his love of aviation into a career at Stevens Aviation in Greer, SC. Upon his “second retirement,” Bob spent many happy hours doing yard work, walking, and rooting for the Clemson Tigers. He was a long-time member of Siloam Baptist Church in Powdersville, SC, and most recently attended Sandy Springs Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC. In the last weeks of his life, he could often be heard singing hymns through the night. It brings his family much joy to know that even as his physical body was suffering, his soul was preparing to enter heaven’s gates.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Phyllis (Jud) Sanders of Simpsonville, SC; his son, Stephen (Ellen) Dockham of Belews Creek, NC; his grandchildren, Chad (Tiffany) Sanders, Blake Sanders, Grayson (Haley) Sanders, Katy Dockham, and Michael Dockham; and his great-grandchildren, Maya, AJ, Paisley, and Kaia. He is also survived by his best friend, Yvonne Carter, and several special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of NHC HealthCare Mauldin and Legacy Reserve at Fairview Park for their excellent care.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m. at Reedy Fork Baptist Church, 459 Reedy Fork Rd, Greenville, SC. Burial will follow at the Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum, 2206 Woodruff Rd, Simpsonville, SC.
