Cindy Lee (MacDonald) Behn, age 67 of Greer, SC, formerly of Prince Edward Island, Canada, born May 26, 1957 was called home by her Savior on October 14, 2024 at 7:07 pm. She was surrounded by her family and showered with their love in the twilight hours until she breathed her last breath.
In 1981, she married her husband, Alan Behn (American) in the province of her birth, PEI, Canada before leaving her island home to follow him to the United States and travel with him in a drama ministry for The Academy of Arts in Greenville, SC. During the 5 years of traveling, she gave birth to their first child, Greg, in 1985.
In 1987, they began a life at Northland Baptist Bible College. For over 2 decades, she faithfully taught voice to college and local highschool students as well as running the costume department that supported her husband's efforts as he led the school's drama department. During this time, she gave birth to 3 more children, Brittany (1988), Riley (1989), and Chelsea (1991). When she wasn't working, her days were primarily spent raising and homeschooling their 4 children which would later prove to be some of her most cherished memories.
Her first encounter with Alan took place at Bob Jones University in 1976, and as she told one of her sons, she thought he was the most handsome man with a guitar she had ever seen, and all of the girls were in love with him.
In 2009, Cindy experienced her first stroke of many which devastated her ability to speak and walk. After months and years of therapy, she regained many of her lost abilities. In the last 7 years of her life, she had several recurring strokes that set back more than all of the progress she had made. But even in her final years and months, she never neglected to remind her children that she was always praying for them and forever reminded them to pray as well.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Alan Behn and their 4 children, Gregory, Brittany (husband Arthur), Riley (wife Zoey), Chelsea, along with her beloved grand daughter, Hazel. She will be terribly missed by all.
In heaven, she is welcomed with open arms by not only her heavenly Father, but also her earthly father, mother, infant brother, Gary, unborn grand child, and many other long missed family and friends. One day soon, she will greet the loved ones she left on earth in kind.
Poem by her daughter in law, (Zoey) Yu Tian:
A Mother's Journey Home
In heaven's light, she walks anew,
Forgiven, pure, her spirit true.
Three in one will guide her home.
With angels' wings, she's safely flown.
Reborn in love, forever free,
A mother's heart, in eternity.
As children here, we'll love her still,
And honor her with hearts and will.
In God's own blink, in time's gentle tune,
We'll be united, so very soon.
