Cody was such a talented musician. He loved singing with his wonderful bass voice and played any instrument he picked up. From 7th grade through high school, he tried out and was chosen to be in All County, All Region and All State bands playing tenor and baritone saxophone and bassoon. Cody was in the Blue Ridge High School Corps of Cadets marching band for five years. He also was in chorus and chamber choir at school and made All State Chorus for three years as a bass singer. He had the opportunity to sing with his high school choral group as a back up choir for Eric Church at his concert in Greenville. Cody was also part of a men’s quartet in high school called “The Tweets”. This group performed in various places together including opening for a Greenville Drive game singing the National Anthem.
Cody was a member of the Carolina Youth Symphony, on bassoon, and performed with them at Furman University and even at Carnegie Hall. Cody went to Winthrop University for two years and was in their choral and instrumental program. He was able to perform a second time at Carnegie Hall with his choral group from Winthrop. Cody participated in the Young Artist Program with the Greenville Chorale for two years. He also played acoustic, electric, and bass guitars as well as piano occasionally and sang at his church and other churches on invitation.
Cody was in the Young Marine program for several years earning multiple ribbons and a rank of Corporal. He was able to go to Hawaii with this youth organization and marched in the 1st Annual Pearl Harbor Memorial parade as well as being a flag bearer for the Rolling Thunder motorcycle parade in Washington, D.C. Thank you to the leaders of Anderson County Young Marines and Upstate Young Marines.
Cody enjoyed extracurricular activities when he was younger including baseball and karate.
Cody has always been such a blessing to his family and all that knew him. We all love him so much and always will. He was so intelligent and would use such big words sometimes we would have to look them up. He could crack you up with his sense of humor. He hated his red hair when he was younger to the point of asking his mom if he could dye it black because it drew too much attention, but he ended up growing it out to be a glorious red mane. He will be so GREATLY missed.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody’s closest friends Drew Cribbs, Reid Warner, Michael (Timo) Till, Jonathan Lewis and Chandler McMakin. He loved his annual trips with you guys to Portsmouth Island. Thank you to “The Tweets”- Paul Dill, Adam Barnette, and Nathan McGee, he absolutely loved singing with you guys. We appreciate Laura Morris, Eric Wells, James Fox and Brian Grant for teaching Cody and fueling his potential in his musical talents. Thank you to our family, friends and church family who have lifted us up and carried us through this time hardest time of our lives.
Condolences can be made to the Jeter family at www.mackeywoodlawn.com.
