

Curtis was born on November 21, 1952 in Columbia, MS. He received two B.S. degrees in Management and Conservation, Magna Cum Laude, from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC in 1976. He was with the United States Navy for 20 years, 5 active duty and 15 years as Reserve Officer. He was a Commander in the US Navy Reserve at the time he retired from the Navy. He worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years; he was Field Trainer Supervisor, Claims Specialist and Field Examiner with RU Munich at the time of his death.
Curtis had a passion for photography. He frequently travelled with his wife to photo locations such as Alaska and the Caribbean. He also did family portraits and wedding photography.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his mother Alice. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia B. West, adopted children: Millard B. West and Queenie Faidah West- Lopez and husband Allan Jay Lopez, grand children: Walter, Jesper, Karyll, Megan, Malea, Sean, Kody and Sky; sister-in- law, Avelina B. Javonillo; brother-in-law, Sergio Javonillo; niece, Camille B. Javonillo; nephew, Collin B. Javonillo; aunts, uncles and cousins in Indiana.
A service will be held Saturday, December 11,2021 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive at 1:00 P. M. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M.
