after a long battle with strokes and cancer. He was born in Columbia SC on February 7,1950 to Frances Wilson Wheeler and Daniel Hebert Wheeler. He grew up in the Eau Claire section of Columbia and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1968. Dan was an accomplished horseshoe player, musician, and fisherman. He worked as a plumber by trade up until November 25, 2009 when a stroke ended his ability to work. An outgoing and friendly person, he could make friends with people from all walks of life.
Preceded in death by his parents Dan and Frances Wheeler and younger sister Betty Fowler. He is survived by his sister, Dr. Fran Wheeler, and his two sons, John Daniel Wheeler(Mary) and Joseph Henry Wheeler (Catherine). He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Frances 19, Wilson 17, Henry 15, Ada 13, James 9, Harriet 8, John 6. Dan also leaves behind two nephews Scott and Jason Fowler, as well as cousins, aunts, and uncles. And many more friends who were like family to him.
