My dear sister...I pray that you see this post. We were the three (3) Musketeers. My brother Donny (as kids we knew him) kicked ass & took names later. Donny took care of his sisters, his friends, Mother,  Father. --------------------Donny was a once in a life time person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You could never repeat the kind of man he was!!!!!!!!!!!        Brother, I CANNOT tell you how much I miss you & how much my heart grieves for you. My one and ONLY brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forever (4ever--only you know this meaning bro)   Godspeed and all of my love. I will always remember several things about Don.  He loved his kids!  When we went camping with him, we visited the Arboretum in Ashville.  Don would drop money on the trail for the kids to find along the way.  He loved watching their reaction as they found it.  To me it was more fun watching Don than the kids.  I also think about our Tuesday night wings feasts at Quaker Steak and Lube.  Those were the best times.  Outside of my family, it was probably the thing I missed most when I moved to Texas.   Finally there was the poker nights with the boys in small group.  I laughed so hard I was literally sore the next day.   Don was a giving, man who poured into his children.  He also loved his wife and most of all he loved the Lord!

Our family was blessed with so many good memories of our dear, friend, Don. We shared lots of things in common with the sweet Poynter family. Our kids were near the same age,  so we enjoyed camping trips, afternoons at the lake and dinners at their house mostly enjoying a delicious meal by Sharon. We grew in our faith together at Grace Church on Sunday's and weekly Bible Studies with fellow sojourners. Don and JD were like minded  entrepreneurs so that gave Sharon and I plenty to talk and pray about on any given day. 
The Poynter's were that rare family where Sharon, Don, JD myself and the kids all enjoyed each other. We went on beach vacations  together and witnessed first hand the attentiveness that Don gave his children. He was an amazing "hands on" Dad. No doubt he has left an awesome legacy with his children. 
One of my forever memories of Don was when our son, Evan was hit by a car while riding his bike (he survived with only a broken leg ....thankfully).  I was on the way to the hospital with Evan and Mitchell in the backseat. I was frantically trying to reach JD by phone with no luck at all. I thought to myself.....who can I call, who can I call? Don's name popped into my head so I reached out to him and he met me at the hospital and took over the task of reaching JD. He stayed with us for hours and was there at the hospital every day or checked in by phone. That was Don my "go to person" in an emergency.  He was a person you could could count on and someone who deeply cared about other people. We unfortunately moved from the Greenville area 3 years ago so it's been awhile since we've seen our dear friends but we always had and still have intentions of reconnecting somewhere on a sunny beach someday. We miss you Don and always will! Our forever love to Sharon and the kids.

I have known Donnie for over 25 years thru the Grubbs Family. I knew his dad, Arnold and his Aunt Mildred Grubbs and her children. I always looked forward to his visits to Garrard County, Ky to visit with them. We had alot of good laughs and memories. I hated to hear about his illness and now his death. My prayers are with Sharon and the kids whom he always talked about. Rest in peace my long time friend......

Sharon,  I am so sorry to hear of this. I still remember the first time I met Don.  He was quiet but sweet and good to you.  May God keep you comforted in His embrace. My prayers for you and your children.  May Don Rest In Peace.
