

Doris Collins Garrett, 90, of 3220 Santa Fe Way, Rocklin, CA, passed into the hands of the Lord on Monday, June 16, 2014, at her home, when her earthly heart ceased. Born in the County of Greenville, S.C., Township of O’Neal, Doris had been the wife of the late Wyatt Clyde Garrett and the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Collins and Rosa Dill Collins. She was the youngest of five children--three sisters and one brother--all deceased. During her lifetime, Doris was a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C. and Leawood Baptist Church (currently known as The Church at Cherrydale) in Greenville, S.C. In addition, for many years, she attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church with her late sister, Virginia Collins Baskin. In January of 2005, Doris relocated from Greenville, S.C. to Rocklin, CA, to be near her daughter. She was a member of Bridgeway Christian Church and Westside Christian Church in Roseville, CA. Doris was a dedicated Christian, who was secure in her faith that there is life after death and a place for her to spend eternity with her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her daughter, Sandi Elaine Garrett-Adams, and her son-in-law, Colonel Henry Lawrence Adams, U.S. Army Retired; nieces Nancy Collins Chapman, Rosevelyn Collins Garrison, Sylvia Brown Lacefield; nephew Stephen Brown; first cousins Camila Jameson and Valeria Bishop; and numerous other cousins and family. A Celebration of Life Service, Visitation, and Entombment will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10, 2014. The Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the Service at 2:00 p.m. with Entombment to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
