Doris was born August 27, 1935 in Greenville, SC to Alvin and Mabel Ward and was married for 68 years to her loving husband Rodney Hunt, who predeceased her in 2024.
Doris graduated from Taylors High School where she was an all-conference basketball player. She went to work after high school as a secretary at Canal Insurance Company in Greenville, SC where she worked for over 46 years rising to the position of Executive Vice President.
As a member of Taylors First Baptist Church, she worked in the Good News Club Children’s Ministry. Doris loved serving and leading the children to the Lord in this after-school ministry for ages 5-12.
Doris is survived by her sister Marion Estes, her three sons Mike, Mark (Sara), Marty (Jodie), 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She loved and adored each of them, praying for them daily.
Services will be held Saturday October 11 at 2:00PM at The Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd. Greenville, SC 29609.
