Evelyn Mildred Bernards Shealy, 94, of Greenville SC, passed away on January 25, 2025 after a long illness. Evelyn was the fourth of 11 children born to Martin John Bernards and Angelena Genivieve Bernards (nee Duyck).
Evelyn lived her young adulthood in southern California, where she met and married Luther Floyd Shealy Jr (deceased), originally of Pacolet, SC. She had three children, and is survived by her son, Luther Floyd Shealy III (Erica) of Hilo Hawaii, her daughter Lucinda Shealy Quick (David) of Greenville, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Isabella Quick. Evelyn is predeceased by her daughter, Alice Lenora Shealy of Greenville, and by many of her siblings.
Always active, Evelyn was an avid and talented golfer. Until her late 80s, she walked up to 6 miles daily. She led a full and successful professional life, and enjoyed friends and family.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Friday, February 7 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics of South Carolina.
The family would like to offer our gratitude to her caregiver and friend William Martin and to her caregiver Susan Tucker for their loving support and care. Her life was enriched by their presence.
