

Franklin Roger Bishop, 87, of Greenville, SC passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021. Born January 31, 1934 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late William Adger Bishop, Sr. and Della Rogers Bishop. He was predeceased by a brother, William A. Bishop, Jr., and two sisters, Frances W. Bishop and Juanita B. King.
He is survived by his wife LaRue Taylor Bishop; son, Brian Roger Bishop; daughter, Amy Bishop Williams; four grandchildren, Cristi Michelle Stiles, Jason Roger Bishop, Jennie Elise Williams, and Jolie Elizabeth Bishop; brother, Dan Mahon Bishop, sister-in-law, Bonnie B. Bishop (W.A. Bishop, Jr.) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger worked in the life insurance industry for forty years, as both agent and sales manager. Following his retirement from insurance he went on to work for Carquest/Advanced Auto until the age of 80.
He was a faithful member, deacon and choir member of Travelers Rest First Baptist Church. He enjoyed all sports but his favorites were playing golf and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1954 to 1957.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the 6th floor (Covid Unit) of St. Francis Hospital (downtown) for the personal, compassionate care they gave to him. We are also grateful for our family and numerous friends who have prayed for his healing and in support of our family.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday, September 20, 2021, at Mackey at Century Drive. A private graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, September 21 at Graceland East Memorial Gardens.
