Geraldine (Gerry) Holland Pickens, 80, of Greenville, died August 4, 2011. She will be remembered as a strong and remarkable woman and as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
A native of Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Wilton Earl Holland and the late Minnie Mae McAlister Holland. She was predeceased by her brother William (Bill) Earl Holland and her youngest daughter, Amy. She is survived by her sister, Rachel Holland Wittschen of Evans, GA, and by three nieces and a nephew.
She is also survived by her children, Gene Pickens (Monique) of San Antonio, TX, Kathy Pickens of Mauldin, Christina Sands of Tucker, GA, Melissa McWhite (Lewis) of Greenville, Brian Pickens of Fountain Inn and six grandchildren.
She graduated from Furman Women’s College and received her BA in Business Administration from Limestone College in 1981. She retired in 1993 after many years with the Greenville Hospital System.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Gerry will be held on Friday, August 12 at 11:00 am in the Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The service will be conducted by Howard A. Wimmer, Chaplain at The Gardens of Eastside.
