

Glenn was well-known in the Greenville community as the owner of Saffron’s; he was a true humanitarian who supported many local organizations including Centre Stage and Warehouse Theater where he served as a board member for both theaters for many years. Saffron’s sponsored the Warehouse Gala and every preview night since 2012. Glenn’s personal generosity raised many thousands of dollars over the years for Warehouse Theater, Centre Stage, The Greenville Symphony, and The Children’s Museum.
Glenn graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Before his culinary career, Glenn was a firefighter and served two years as President of the Bower Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He became an Eagle Scout with his brother Gary in 1980 in Troop 834, and he also served as assistant Scoutmaster.
In addition to his parents John and Rose, Glenn is survived by his sister, Donna Besz (Keith); his twin brother, Gary Sawicki; his niece, Nicole Besz; his nephew, Justin Besz; his aunt, Agnes Makitka; and many loving cousins and devoted friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 5th at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1209 Brushy Creek Road, Taylors. A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held after the service. Details will be announced on Friday.
