Harolyn Whipple Anthony, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Born in Putnam, Connecticut and raised in Brooklyn, Connecticut, Harolyn lived a life marked by service, joy, and deep love for family and the outdoors.
A lifelong member of the 4-H Club, Harolyn embodied its values through her dedication to community and helping others. In high school, she proudly served as a majorette in the marching band, a role that reflected her spirited personality. She volunteered for 25 years at a local hospital, always offering a kind word and a helping hand. Whether she was gardening, fishing, crabbing, or walking along the beach, Harolyn found peace and joy in nature. She had a passion for travel and a special fondness for the uplifting music of The Gaithers, whose songs brought her great comfort and inspiration. A woman of the Baptist faith, Harolyn’s vibrant spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her children: Linda A. Glover (late husband Edison), Wayne Stephen Anthony (Jennifer), and Brenda M. Tipper (Martin); as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Harolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Herman Anthony, along with her three sisters and three brothers.
In honor of Harolyn’s memory, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
