Born in Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Strange was a son of the late James A. Strange, Sr. and Ethel Tapp Strange.
He attended The Citadel. He retired from the Greenville County School System after 30 years as a law enforcement officer. He was member of St. James Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lani Strange; a daughter, Stephanie Gibson (Kyle); 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, Jr., Coley, Nikki, and Casey.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. Burial will follow at 3pm at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC. The family will receive friends at the mortuary one hour prior to the service.
