James was a pilot whose career spanned 37+ years flying for Capital Airlines, Eastern Airlines, and American Trans Air. He proudly piloted the first Lockheed Electra into Greenville Spartanburg Airport and flew an impressive list of aircraft during his career including the DC-7, DC-9, B-727 and B-757. James loved his job and adored his family.
He is survived by his wife Polly, daughters Laura Phipps (Jim) and Janice Reid (Bob), his grandchildren Nicholas Reid and Natalie Reid and his sister Billie.

A Celebration of Life service for James will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
