Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he was the son of James Hunt Stovall and the late Gloria Perkins Stovall. He graduated from Eastside High School and was a drum Major in the Band. He attended Clemson University, was in the Tiger band and was an editor of the Tiger school paper. He was an Eagle Scout.
Jim enjoyed music, the arts and architecture, and played most musical instruments. He loved dogs and owned a dog sitting business.
Jim had a gregarious personality and enjoyed friends of all ages. He was an avid reader, attended many music events and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed sharing dining experiences with friends during holiday celebrations and at other times. We will miss Jim, but he is enjoying reunion time with his Mother, Gloria. Jim had been a member of Edwards Road Baptist Church, in Greenville.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother, Steve Stovall (Karen) of Anderson, South Carolina; a sister, Beth Stovall Byrne (Chris) of Spartanburg; and five nieces and nephews, Luke Stovall, Lydia Stovall, David Zabriskie, Nicholas Byrne, and Zachary Byrne.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 12:30pm until 1:45pm at Taylors First Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
