
Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph William Bishop and Evelyn Ruth Shults Bishop.
She was a graduate of Roebuck High School. She attended Draughon’s Business School. Mrs. Wood was a founding partner of GreenWood, Inc. where she served as secretary and treasurer until her retirement in 2002. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, SC and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Isle of Palms, SC. Among her many interests, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, designing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John Arthur Wood; 2 daughters, Kelly Wood of Pasadena, CA and Laura Lipscomb (Todd) of Roebuck, SC; 2 sons, Bradley Wood (Leigh) of Simpsonville, SC and Nathan Wood (Cara) of Anderson, SC; 2 brothers, Douglas Bishop (Jerrie) and James Bishop; 5 granddaughters, Kayla Lipscomb, Abbie Lipscomb, Lyndsay Wood, Chloe Wood, and Alison Wood; and a grandson, John A. Wood, II.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Oakleaf Village staff and her personal caregiver, Colette “Coco” Taylor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, SC with a reception following at the church.
