Born in Spartanburg on August 9, 1928, she lived most of her life in Greenville. She graduated from Greenville Tech School of Nursing in 1974 and worked many years as a registered nurse.
Lavonia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Eleanor and Steve Hazle, her grandson Scott Hazle and his wife Barbara, her granddaughter Lindsay Waldrop and her husband Ben, and great-grandchildren Richard Baker and Ian and Abbey Waldrop.
She is also survived by two much-loved sisters-in-law as well as special nieces and nephews.
A service for the family will be held in the chapel of Taylors First Baptist Church on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Nursing Student Education Fund c/o Greenville Tech Foundation, 225 South Pleasantburg Drive, Suite E11, Greenville, SC 29607.
