

Luneill Farnham Bridges died peacefully on April 28, 2026 at age 85. Luneill was born in Greenville, South Carolina on September 22, 1940 to the late Wynona “Winnie” Neill and McManaway Farnham. In 1957, Luneill graduated with the last college preparatory class at North Greenville Academy, a 65-year-old private high school. After receiving an AA degree in music from North Greenville Junior College in 1959, Luneill graduated from Furman University in 1961 with a BA in Music Education. Years later in 1988, she earned a Master’s in Reading from the University of South Carolina.
At age five, Luneill began taking piano lessons at North Greenville Academy, and by age ten, she was playing the piano and later the organ at local churches in her community, including Camp Creek and later Locust Hill. She continued to share her gift of music throughout her life including at The Woodlands at Furman, where she lived for the last eight years.
Following graduation from Furman, Luneill began teaching at Maryville Elementary in Georgetown, SC before moving back to Greenville, where she taught for over 31 years at six different public schools. In 1983, she was awarded “Teacher of the Year” at Sans Souci Elementary.
During retirement, Luneill remained active in the Greenville chapter of PFLAG, the nation's largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. She participated in many support groups and advocacy efforts and served as a member of the board of directors. In addition, Luneill enjoyed spending time at her ancestral home place in North Greenville, “Prince Place,” where she could be spotted on a tractor or taking walks in a pasture.
An active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Luneill participated in the Presbyterian Women’s group.
Luneill is survived by a spouse of 54 years, R. Donald Bridges, a son, Patrick D. Bridges, and a son-in-law, D. Scott Gauch. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, David Christopher Bridges.
Following a private entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 3 PM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1860 Reid School Road, Taylors, SC 29687. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
