

Lydia S. Baker, beloved wife of Mitchell Langley Baker, Sr., passed peacefully September 10, 2015 at McCall Hospice House in her 67th year. Lydia was born in Anderson to the late Carl Wayne Seigler and Mary Hall Seigler. In 1965 she graduated Wade Hampton High School and attended Erskine College. Mrs. Baker was a featured soprano with the Abbeville Opera House and the Greenwood Little Theatre. She was a devoted member of Greenville ARP Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. Also, she was involved in the Bible Study Fellowship as a discussion leader and children’s supervisor.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children Michelle Baker Johnson (Charles McGilvary) of Canton, GA, Mitchell Langley Baker, Jr. (Melissa Martin Baker) of Tiger, GA, and Michael Henry Baker of Simpsonville; grandchildren Caroline Elizabeth, Austin Langley, Anna Catherine, Mary Beatrice, and Charles Nathaniel Johnson; sister Florence Seigler Lloyd (Charles Edwin Lloyd, III); and brother-in-law Charles Calvin Baker (Pam Austin Baker).
Visitation Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Greenville ARP Church. Funeral service Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville ARP Church. Burial in Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn. Serving as pallbearers will Richard Mitchell, Dr. Bill Crosby, Sean Baker, Brian Baker, Scott Davis, and Charlie Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers are BSP Greenville, SC, Day Women’s Class Administrative Staff and Children’s Leader; members of the Greenville ARP Church Choir; and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
