Marion was born on November 27, 1926, in Lewiston, Maine to Elizabeth and Frank Worth. One of six children, she was predeceased by Mildred Decker, Alfred Worth, Frank Worth and Ruth Thompson. She is survived by her dear sister Beatrice Schedivy, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday and living in Florida.
Her humility and gratitude, born of her modest upbringing in New Jersey, enabled her to appreciate every blessing that life brought her way. She instilled these values in others, always leading by example in a life filled with faith, unconditional love, laughter, and unwavering resilience.
She was married to William James Mescall in 1947 and the proud matriarch of a large, loving family. Together, they raised 12 children - six boys and six girls - in Union City (NJ), Dunbarton (NH), Nutley (NJ), and Harrisburg (PA). They also built summer homes in Greenwood Lake (NY) and Canadarago Lake (NY) - all of which became the backdrop for countless memories that spanned generations.
At age 50, Marion discovered her talent for watercolor painting, a passion that blossomed into a remarkable artistic journey. She exhibited her work in numerous art shows and was a member of several watercolor societies. Her art and love of music is a testament to her creative spirit and vibrant outlook on life which saw her juggle and play the roles of homemaker, seamstress, traveler, volunteer, and proud grandmother to 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren who she adored. Her legacy is a testament to a family-first life lived to the fullest.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, William, her sons William, Michael, and Thomas, and her daughter, Maureen Brock. She is survived by her children Susan Welty (John), Patricia Evans (Jim), Stephen Mescall, Nancy McCollum, Daniel Mescall (Jeanne), Maryann Smith (Chris), Cecilia Mescall, and James Mescall along with 31 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Marion’s life will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, https://www.episcopalgreenwood.org/ in Greenwood, SC on December 14, 2024, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont at https://www.careofthepiedmont.org/donate, where Marion was a volunteer and she and her family received extraordinary care and support over the past year.
