Martha Strait Chiles

Martha Strait Chiles, 89, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, April 3, 2015.

Born in Rock Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Mabel Pearson Strait.

Martha was a 1949 graduate of the Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse she was a Nursing Supervisor for many years and retired as an Administration coordinator in the Nursing office with 50 year’s service.

She loved her church at White Oak Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was the happiest whenever reading her bible, spending time with her family or working a good crossword puzzle.

She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Ann Chiles Miller of Mauldin; and son, John W. Chiles of Taylors; grandchildren, Ashley Miller Childress and husband, Justin, and Lindsey Michelle Chiles; sister-in-law, Alma Strait; and the “apple of her eye”, great-granddaughter, Miller Kate Childress.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Lyle, William and Luther Strait; and sisters, Ailene Hovis and Margaret Fudge.

A Service to Celebrate her Life will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2:00pm at The Mackey Mortuary.

The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to White Oak Baptist Church.
