
Mary Hudson Adair Brewster, 100, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Milas Eustace and Lillian Morgan Hudson and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Brewster became the owner and operator of the Drapery Mill Outlet in Anderson, SC in 1979, where she pursued her passion for interior design. She was well-traveled and enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. She was a member of the Clarice Wilson Garden Club, Ivy Trail Community Club and Hillcrest Community Women’s Club, where she once served as president. She was a lifelong member of Earle Street Baptist Church. Her beauty and grace were surpassed only by her kindness and perseverance. Mrs. Brewster was married first to Eugene R. “Spec” Adair and secondly to John L. “Bruce” Brewster, both who preceded her in death along with her son Gene Adair, her daughter Mary Adair and her four sisters Aileen Pierson, Jo Hudson, Jessie Freeman and Lillian Scarr. Surviving are her son, Miles Adair and his wife Cathy; daughter-in-law Betty Adair; her granddaughters Britts Gibbes and her husband Pete, Bess Adair, Loren Graves and her husband Jennings, Mary Stuart Carrington and her husband Scott, and Lacey Adair; and her great-grandchildren Bryant Aughtry, Neely Gibbes and Libby Graves, who all lovingly referred to her as “Mimi”. She is also survived by her nieces Lillian White and Eleanor Hughes and her nephew Bomer Smith. Services will be held 2pm Monday, January 5, 2015 in The Mackey Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Ralph Carter. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Brewster was a breast cancer survivor and memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen SC Mountains to Midlands 531 S.
