Melvin Eugene Sammons Sr, passed from this life on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was a son of the late Tryman Rudolf Sammons and Sallie Agnes Merrill. Melvin served in WWII, US Army and was an engineer for Southern Railroad until he retired. He is survived by a son Gene Sammons and wife Chris; two sisters Norma Chandler and Maola Dawson; two grandchildren Barrett Sammons and Chase Sammons and his wife Meredith. He was preceded in death by his wife Muriel Todd Sammons; two sisters and a brother Lila, Dot and Jim Sammons. He was a member of the Northgate Baptist Church Greenville, SC. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 - 12:45 pm in the funeral home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northgate Baptist Church. Arrangements under the direction of Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
