Mildred Pollard Holcomb, 99, widow of Ronald Clifford Holcomb, died Wednesday, August 21st at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Simpsonville on March 8th, 1914, the daughter of John A. and Daisy M. Pollard, she was educated in Greenville public schools and a graduate of Furman University. Mildred retired after more than forty years of service at Liberty Life Insurance Company. She was a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church in Greenville, and had taught Sunday School for many years in a former church. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Manly Pollard and his wife Elizabeth O'Donnell Pollard. She is survived by three nephews and their wives, Dr. Fred D. Pollard and Charlotte McKim, John M. Pollard, Jr. and Caroline Smith, and Thomas C. Pollard and Brooke Lamson, as well as seven great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 2nd Presbyterian Church, 105 River St., Greenville, SC 29601 or Open Arms Hospice 1836 W.
