She attended Pensacola schools: Agnes McReynolds, Clubbs Junior High, and Pensacola High; she graduated from Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina, receiving her B.S. Degree in Secondary Education. She also graduated from Auburn University with a M. Ed. Degree in English Education. She taught for 34 years, spending most of her teaching career in middle schools in Panama City, FL, and Greenville, SC. She also taught at Bob Jones University and Greenville Technical College.
She is survived by her husband Donald Lee Kovatch of 58 years; her daughter Krista Repp; her son-in-law Jonathan Repp; and one grandson Noah Repp. She was predeceased by her parents Ruby and Leslie Underwood and one brother William (Bill) Leslie Underwood.
In consideration of the cold weather, a graveside service will be held at Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the chapel at 10:00am on Monday, February 9, 2026.
