

Born in Fairmont, WV, she dedicated her life to her family and to the art of nursing. She was both a fiercely dedicated mother and a generous and adoring grandmother. Nursing was not only a job, but her service to God and life’s passion. She shared this passion as an educator of the next generation of nurses at Bob Jones University for over 20 years.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul Phillips and Martha Consuello Phillips; her sister, Susan Lynn Phillips Johnson; and her former husband and father of her child, Ray Newton Ketcham. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Ketcham Hwang (Jason); three grandchildren, Gareth Ray Hwang, Rilyn Jae Hwang, and Emrys Charles Hwang; two brothers, John Paul Phillips II (Mike) and Stephen Ison Phillips (Sherry), as well as many close nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 95 Mt Zion Rd, Fairmont, WV 26554 at 2:00 PM on April 7, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Division of Nursing at Bob Jones University by mail or online.
