I loved my deaf cousin Pearl. When I was small, the annual visit of our family to Dinuba was a highpoint of our vacation. Hearing Pearl play the piano was awe inspiring. Pearl taught my sister Pauline many tips about playing the piano well, and how to make arrangements on hymn playing. I have more memories of Aunt Sara, Pearl, Steve, and Harold than there is room to recount.  Esther and I supported Rich and Pearl in their ministry in Brazil and elsewhere, and I know that the fruit of their labors will bless thousands in this life and into eternity.  Cousin Joe Alexanian

Saralee, I LOVE how someone took the time to write such a sweet, lengthy obituary for your mom.  It far surpasses those that just list a few life details and the survivors.  I am rejoicing in seeing how the Lord worked all throughout your mom's life and kept her faithfully serving Him all the way to the end.  Very inspiring to reflect on when days on earth seem hard.  I am glad that I will get to spend time with them in heaven even though I only got to greet them briefly here on earth.  On a side note, my son had done a country report on Brazil last year.  Part of the report was a missionary feature.  He choose to write about your parents.....so he gathered some info from the Fiel website.  I enjoyed learning about their background and ministry....but I learned even more from reading this eulogy here.  Much love to you and your family.

I have precious memories of my cousin Pearl.  When she visited me in my home, she would play the piano while my mom (Elaine) and I would sing along. One time
years ago, she visited my parents' home, and when she was saying goodbye, she gave me her necklace that she was wearing, and put it on me.  It has semi-precious stones on it from Brazil.  I always cherished it because it was from Pearl.
I loved her and Rich, and am grateful for their witness and service to the Lord Jesus Christ.

My family is just one of many Brazilian families whose lives were for ever changed because of Richard and Pearl Denham's lives and ministry. There are no words, neither in Portuguese nor in English, that would express our gratitude and appreciation for their kindness, love, and encouragement. They were precious instruments of God's grace to open the doors for the ministry that we carry on to this very day. Our hearts are filled with gratitude to our Heavenly Father, who faithfully brought them safely home. We will miss dona Perola's kindness, talents, servant heart and friendship as we miss senhor Ricardo's counsels, insight, prudence, and a gracious heart. We are sure that all the sweet memories that we cherish here are just the preface, the foretaste, of the most amazing story our great God and Father has written for us to enjoy with them through all eternity. I will always cherish the times we were around the piano singing along with Grandma as her fingers skillfully danced on the ivories. I hope I'll never forget how she would call me "precious" and smiled with a twinkle in her eye. She was an inspiration to me to play the piano, and while I haven't and will likely never reach the caliber that she had for playing piano, I'm happy to continue to play and remember her every time I sit at the 88 keys. I'm blessed and inspired to know she touched so many lives throughout her many years of service to the Lord. Praise God, this isn't "goodbye", but a "see you later."

May my Mother's light never dim.  She and my Dad were very Special people.  I love them both.  Thanks for taking my sister and myself into your home many years ago.  I will miss you but know this is only a temporary good bye.  I LOVE YOU

It was always so exciting when Pearl arrived in Pasadena.  We knew we were ready for fun, fellowship and fantastic piano as the family sang hymns together.

Dear Kids,
With the news of your mother's homegoing, it feels like the end of an era. We met your parents when they were just starting the publishing house in Brazil, and now their work is finished and God has called them both to their eternal rest.
When we first met your mother, she was roasting peanuts in your home in Sao Paulo. Saralee was the baby then. As you well know, our family lives were intertwined tightly over the years, and we enjoyed many a meal and evening of fellowship in your home. It seems like your mother was always cooking, sewing, or playing the piano. And when you were all grown and gone, there were always other young people living with your folks who needed to be mentored, sewed for, loved. Numerous Brazilians were recipients of your parents' generous hearts and hands.
One memory forged in our minds was a concert your mother gave with Gene Jordan (of HCJB) at the tiny Metropolitan Chapel on Rua Estados Unidos. The congregation sat in quiet anticipation, your mother at the piano waiting for Gene. He finally came rushing in late, slapped some HANDWRITTEN music on the piano in front of your mother, and the concert began. Even though they had not even rehearsed together, their divinely-endowed gifts blended into a most glorious musical tribute to the Lord Jesus (Gene, on the violin).
It's a striking contrast to note that your mother's missionary career began in the Amazon Basin on a launch with an accordion and ended in the Greater Sao Paulo area, training musicians and playing for over 1500 people at Fiel's annual conference for pastors and leaders. Your mother had a very full and active life of service to the Lord, her family, and the many other lives she touched. We will miss her. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord...so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them" (Rev. 14:13).

I always loved to hear Aunt Pearl play the piano while my Dad sang. I'll never forget realizing the amount of talent that God had blessed our family with and that using that talent to honor Jesus was the highest calling! I'm confident that Aunt Pearl and the Affable Armenian are again together praising Jesus in ways that I will one day enjoy myself in His presence! Can't wait! Grateful for our heritage and the way that the Denham family continues to live out their faith!

When I was little, Auntie Pearl was so far away in Brazil.  When our family received the Denham Family Singers record, I was thrilled to have such famous cousins.  When my daughter was little, and Auntie Pearl was visiting in Roanoke, she sang with my Sarah, (named in part for her mom, our Grat Aunt Sarah), and the music was just a sweet as all those years ago on the record.  I am happy to know she is signing in a heavenly choir now.

We have such fond memories of your parents, Richard and Pearl. What dedicated missionaries! And what beautiful things Pearl did on the piano, not to mention singing (the whole family)! She will be sorely missed! We are praying for you all.

Pearl was a beloved cousin. My childhood family spent wonderful vacations in her family home in Dinuba. She taught my sister Pauline to play the piano with a powerful and confident touch that many pianists do not have. She also helped me set up a musical scale with glasses filled with different level of water. Then she accompanied me as I played a simple hymn on the local radio station. There are so many, many more wonderful memories. Now she is reunited with her husband, her mother, Harold, and Steve (Art), and many, many more family members and friends. Is it possible that the Lord has provided a piano for her in heaven to accompany those glorious choirs? I wouldn't be surprised!

One of the memories we have is of Alexis playing her violin for Pearl and Richard while she played the piano and also the lessons that Pearl would give her on Saturdays when we would have dinner together at there house off Pelham. the other one that stands out in my mind is when Max broke both his arms and we went to there house on Saturday for dinner. Pearl was like what is the hardest thing to do now Max and he looked at her and said you know i cant even go to the bathroom without help. one week later Richard calls and says can you come over Pearl has fallen and i think she may have broke her arm so off I go to the emergency room with Max with 2 broken arms and Pearl in the wheelchair when we came out Pearl in a cast and Max with 2 casts . The attendant at the hospital ER looks at us and says you really look like you have had a bad day We got a good laugh. Cousin Pearl was a very special part of my growing up.  When she returned to Fresno after graduating from college, she was my piano teacher. I learned a lot from her and she was the kindest sweetest teacher even though I didn't have a lot of talent for playing piano. It has been so great the last years that we have had social media to see her picture often and know how she was doing. She will not be  forgotten.
