A life filled with love is a life well lived. This quote is a beautiful reminder of Margaret Howerton Wimberley, (Peggy) a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother (GiGi), daughter and friend to all. The Lord called Peggy home on March 1, 2021.
Peggy was born on December 6, 1938 to Louise and Joseph “Ranny” Howerton in Richmond, VA. After meeting the love of her life, Barry, they eventually settled on the eastside of Greenville SC in 1980. Peggy took a lot of pride in being a stay at home mom for her two daughters. She had the gift of hospitality and never missed an opportunity to get together with friends and family. She was always the unofficial photographer and loved surprising her friends with prints after every special event. She served where she felt called to help, including Greenville Rape Crisis Center and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed being a member of the Colonial Dance Club and other women’s organizations.
She is survived and deeply missed by her two daughters , Kendal (Britton) Russell of Lexington, SC and Austin (Edward) Clay of Greer, SC and three beautiful grandchildren: Kathryn , Edward (Wim) and Kendal Clay and her beloved Chihuahua Lucy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years, Barry Scott Wimberley.
If you are one of the many to meet her, you know she never met a stranger and will be extremely missed by those near and far.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to GA-SC Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org, or Camperdown Academy, educating children with dyslexia in Greenville, SC at www.camperdown.org.
