Born May 15, 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Edgar C. and Lake B. Waldrop.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Waldrop Johnson, and brother, M.D. "Pete" Waldrop, Sr.
Richard is survived by his companion of 18 years, Martha May, of Fayetteville, Georgia. Also surviving are his niece, Jackie Holbert (Lloyd), his nephews, M. D. Waldrop, Jr (Kim) and Colonel Stephen G. Waldrop, US Army, retired (Tracy), and multiple great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Springwood Cemetery, 410 N. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
