

Mrs. Ryerson was originally from Logan, West Virginia, but moved to Greenville, South Carolina with her four children, following the death of her first husband. She met and married her second husband, James Ryerson, a widower with four children. Together they raised eight children while she worked as a hostess and guide at the Bob Jones University art gallery.
Roberta enjoyed entertaining and hosted numerous receptions, gatherings and seasonal staff breakfasts for WMUU, the radio station managed by her husband. Although she was busy with her professional duties, she always made time to offer her children a sympathetic ear and wise counseling. She also supported and helped her husband in his roles as Campus Pastor and church deacon.
Surviving are sons, Randy Mathena (Felicia) and Don Ryerson (Rosa); daughters, Margaret Polson (Lonnie) and Lisé Mizell (Bruce), son-in-law Dale Bradley as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by first husband, Ray Mathena; husband, James Ryerson; sons, Ivan Mathena, Tim Ryerson and Dick Ryerson; daughter Cassie Bradley; daughters-in-law, Barbara Ryerson and Vickie Ryerson, and grandson Daniel Ryerson.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC follow by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Cruice and Dr. Lonnie Polson. Interment for the family will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
