Sally Childs Coe

She was born on March 7, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, to her late parents, Terrell L. Childs and Coyetta Youmans Childs.

Sally was a 1946 Graduate of the Liggett School (University Liggett), Detroit, MI. She attended the University of Michigan and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She graduated from the Tobe Coburn School of Fashion in New York City in 1952. Sally met her husband, John W. Coe (Jack), soon after employment at the J.L. Hudson Department Store in Detroit, MI.

While raising her two sons in Grosse Pointe, MI, Sally was a member of the Junior League of Detroit and past president of Sigma Gamma Service Sorority. Sally became a successful realtor in 1975, affiliated with several residential realty firms.

Sally was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 2011.

She is survived by her sons, John (Jana) of Kensington, MD, and Daniel (June) of Greenville, SC. Grandsons Andrew (Meredith Grant), Robert (Isalyn Connell-Fiancee) and David Barnett (Jill).

Sally is also survived by her Sister, Phyllis Walker of Overland Park, KS.

A ceremony to honor and remember Sally will be held with internment on Saturday, June 22, at 11:00 AM at the Christ Church Grosse Pointe Rose Garden, 61 Grosse Pointe Boulevard, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.

Sally will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, compassion and never-failing positive outlook will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
