Thérèse Alphonsine Payette

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Thérèse Alphonsine Payette, daughter of Marianne Lévesque and René Payette, on the fourth of August, 2021 in Laval, Québec, Canada. Thérèse was born on October 30, 1930, in L’Epiphanie, Québec, Canada. Growing up, she lived on a farm with her five siblings and loved to play with their animals in her spare time.Thérèse began to study piano at the age of six, and was an excellent musician as well as singer. As a young adult, Thérèse worked for an importer of fine china. She later met Gérard Varin in 1951 and they married in 1956. They settled in St-Jérôme, Québec, Canada, and together opened a successful pharmacy that operated for decades. They were married for fifty-five years prior to Gérard’s passing in 2012.

Thérèse and Gérard welcomed their only child, Sylvie Varin, in 1962. Sylvie was their pride and joy. During Thérèse’s life, she and Gérard traveled around the world visiting destinations such as Puerto Rico, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. They were members of a choir group and bowling team, and were avid tennis players. Thérèse also loved to play card games with her friends and family.

Thérèse is remembered by her daughter Sylvie Varin, son-in-law Sylvain Pierre, and granddaughters Marie-Charlotte, Catherine, and Melanie. She will also be missed by her great-grandcats, Rose, Daisy, and Lexi.

Her celebration of life will be held on October 30, 2021 at Mackey Funerals at Century Drive at 10:30am.
