Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of late Thomas Delamere Holford, Sr. and Florene McBee Holford. He was later raised by his Uncle and Aunt, Clifford B. Denison and Marguerite McBee. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked in accounting for J.P. Stevens Automotive
He is survived by his beloved wife Marion Poole Holford of the home. Also surviving are his sons, Thomas D. Holford III and wife Ann of Simpsonville; Clifford B. Holford of Maryville, Tennessee; and Richard McBee Holford and wife Cathy of Simpsonville, SC. He is also survived by a sister Nancy Holford of New Orleans, LA and a brother, Phillip D. Holford of Greenville. There are five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Edwin McBee Holford.
A committal service will commence at 4:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Saxe officiating on Saturday July 3, 2010. The family will receive friends prior from 2:00-3:30 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1601 N. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd building fund.
