Thomas Evans Wheeler, 88, of Greenville, SC, entered into the Lord’s presence on May 8, 2017. Born in Oak Harbor, OH, on August 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Harry and Olive B. Wheeler and the husband of Donna B. Wheeler. Thomas served in WWII in the US Navy before beginning his career with the US Department of Defense, where he worked for 32 years. He was a long time member of Morningside Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of over 60 years, Thomas is survived by three children, Cheryl (Jerry) Hairgrove, Dawn Wheeler, and Marc (Colleen) Wheeler, all of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Christy (Steven) Canfield of Georgia, Nathan (Christina) Hairgrove of Michigan, Jonathan (Rachel) Hairgrove of Greenville, and Kennedy Wheeler of Greenville; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mr. Wheeler will be held at 11 o’clock on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Miller and Pastor Jerry Hairgrove officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
