

A proud English rose, Valerie crossed the ocean for love, marrying her devoted American soldier, the late John A. Dalton. Together, Valerie and John built a beautiful life. She poured her heart into being an extraordinary homemaker, filling her home with the comforting scents of her cooking, the blooms of her garden, the companionship of her beloved dogs, and the joy of gatherings she so thoughtfully hosted. A spirited traveler and gracious hostess, Valerie created memories wherever she went, leaving behind a legacy of elegance, generosity, and love.
Valerie is survived by her daughter, Benita Churchwell (Bob); and was preceded by her husband John A. Dalton and by her daughter Cherelyn Blackburn. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Amanda Cooper (Frankie), Brooke Miller (Guy), Gary Blackburn Jr. (Angelica), and Jonathan Blackburn (Rachael), as well as her great-grandchildren Brittany Perkins, Savannah Miller (Taygan), Blake Miller, Ciera Wilson (David), Mason Blackburn, Santiago Blackburn, CJ Lowery, Skylar Bolton, Shian Blackburn, and Dalton Blackburn.
A service to honor Valerie’s life will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 10:00am in Remembrance Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Valerie’s grace, warmth, and loving spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
