Vera graduated from Brenau College in 1953 with a degree in Education and Art. While in college, she met a handsome young farmer, Houston White Jr, whom she married in 1954. Vera and Houston raised four children on White Acres Farm in Red Oak, GA. In 1983 Vera and Houston Jr moved to Luthersville GA, where Houston became a builder and Vera sold antiques. After the deaths of her husband Houston White Jr, and her son Houston White III, Vera moved to Taylors, SC to live with her daughter Laura (Andy).
Vera is survived by three of her children: William W. White (Ferne) of Marietta, GA, Laura Barrett (Andy) of Taylors, SC, and Susan Bradshaw of Abilene, TX as well as her grandchildren: Alexandra White, Alicia Kate White (Mike), Hannah White, Andrew Barrett (Evan), and Alex Barrett (Sarah). In her last few years, Vera loved seeing her great grandchildren, Graham Barrett and Blake Barrett.
Plans for a Memorial Service are pending.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
