Vetteerathu "Joe" Skariah Joseph

He was born on November 25th, 1955 in Kuriannoor in Kerala, India to Mathen and Sarama Skaria as the sixth of seven children. He completed his education in Thiruvalla.

He married the love of his life on July 21st, 1977. He immigrated to the US in 1980. He eventually made his home in Greenville, South Carolina, where he worked tirelessly to serve the Lord and support his family. He overcame many trials over his 67 years of life, exemplifying the good faithfulness and unconditional love of the Lord. He built his business, L.A. Fashions, from the ground up and tailored to the needs of his loyal customers.

He was a passionate leader and one of the founding members of the Upstate Malayalee Christian Association and Malayalee Association of South Carolina, Upstate. He had the greenest thumb and he loved his pets. He was the rock for his entire family and community. He always spared a helping hand, and he cared deeply for all. He had a gentle soul that was slow to anger and forgave quickly. He was always beaming with abundant love, joy and selflessness. He was a one of a kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, businessman, leader, and Child of God. Although he has passed, the light of his life and legacy will never fade and lives in all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Mariamma (Jayamani), his 4 daughters, Smitha Parambathu, Sajitha Johnson, Sapna Thomas and Soniya Joseph, his sons-in-laws, Sijo Parambathu, Linish Thomas and Byju Thomas, his grandchildren, Nathan Parambathu and Neyah Thomas, and his siblings, Aleyamma John, V.S. Mathew, Saramma Mathews, Accamma Abraham, Rachel Thomas and Daisy Thomas.

He is predeceased by his father Mathen Skaria, his mother Sarama Skaria, and his sister Mariamma Samuel.

A visitation for Vetteerathu will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM and a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
