

Jenny served in the Civil Service in WWII in Mobile, Alabama refitting aircraft for the military where she met and married her husband. They raised six children together and also their niece. She was a Past State Department Commander of the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary and was a life member of Alvin L. Wilson Chapter #1 DAVA. She was also a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville. She worked in the sewing industry in her younger years helping support her large family and spent many hours baking fruit cakes, sewing and gardening. Her favorite past time was hanging out with her large family and sharing a good laugh. She will be sorely missed.
Jenny is survived by three sons: Joseph Michael Welsh; James Walter Welsh; John Charles Welsh, two daughters: Patricia (Mary) Thackston; Teresa (Terri) W. Jordan and her niece, Donna R. White. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Joseph Welsh; a daughter Sandra E. Hope; her brother Ivan Renner and two sisters Ruth Fowler and Martha Lawless.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Agape Hospice, with special thanks and gratitude to Alexia and Keena for their loving kindness and care. Also a special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Hilltop Memory Care of Greenville.
A graveside service for Jenny will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
