

Born in Sylva, NC, Mr. Grier was the son of Paul Livingston Grier and Jane Reid Grier.
He graduated from New Jersey’s Glen Rock High School in 1979. While at Glen Rock, he was able to apply his passion for sports as the quarterback and point guard for the high school’s football and basketball team, respectively.
He then went on to graduate from Furman University in 1983 where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and was heavily involved in student and Greek life. Mr. Grier was also an avid South Carolina fan, loved to travel and always amazed people with his depth of knowledge regarding sports and politics.
Most of all, his love and devotion to his wife and children was known by all.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Maria and his beloved children: Reid, 24 of Charlotte; Courtney, 21 of Charleston and Alex, 18 of Greenville. He will also be missed by his 14 sisters and brother-in-laws, as well as 26 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at The Mackey Mortuary on Thursday, March 3 from 6 to 8pm.
A vigil will be held at the conclusion of the visitation from 8:00pm to 8:15pm. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Grier will be held at 12:00pm Friday, March 4, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stan Johnson officiating.
A reception will follow the funeral service at the Spaulding Farm clubhouse (100 Spaulding Farm Road) at 2:00pm.
