William Hickson Horton

Born July 4, 1938, in Augusta, Georgia, he was the son Wilbur and Tallie Horton. A graduate of Furman University, he captained both the varsity football and baseball teams his senior year.

During his professional career, he served as Vice President of Human Resources at

Lucas, CAV, and at Sagem, Inc. He was past president of the Greenville Chapter of The Society for Human Resource Management.

Active in Greenville's community life, he was a board member of the United Way, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Crime Stoppers Association, whose local affiliate he helped to organize.

He supported and enjoyed the rich cultural opportunities offered by the Peace Center, Greenville Little Theater, the Greenville County Museum of Art, the Spoleto Festival, and the Brevard Music Festival.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Freeman Horton; by their sons and daughters- in- law, Dr. and Mrs. William Hickson Horton, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Barry Stuart Horton; and four grandchildren: William Ryan Horton, Lauren Michelle Horton, William Banks Horton and Ellison Elizabeth Horton.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2pm at Mackey Mortuary of Greenville. The family will receive friends there immediately following the service.
