

Throughout his life he was an active member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and Harris Baptist Church, both in Greenwood, SC. He served as a deacon at Edwards Road Baptist Church, and more recently attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greenville.
As a veteran of WWII, he trained as a gunner in the B-29 Superfortress in the Army Air Corps.
After the war he worked for the C and WC Railway. During this time he was the lone survivor of a boiler explosion, after which he left the railroad and attended Clemson University on the GI Bill. He completed his engineering degree from Clemson in 1953.
He enjoyed a long career at Greenwood Mills, Davis Mechanical and later retired from Thermo Kinectics of Greenville in the late 1980’s.
He spent the remainder of his life supporting his family, Clemson University and his church. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, in his retirement Zeke could be found wherever his grandchildren were involved in an activity.
Zeke is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Curtiss Rolison Owings; and three children; Lynn O. Brown (Jim) of Greenville and their children Ryan, Kristen Gilvin (Dave) and Amanda; Steve Owings (Linda) of Greer and their children Matt, Stephanie O’Neal (William) and Currie; and Phyllis O. Jackson (David) of Greer and their children Ali and Richard. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Nate, Maya, and Sadie Gilvin and Scottie O’Neal.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Lucille Owings and brothers H.T., Dennis, Markley, and Herbert.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 28th at1:00 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary with the Reverend Neil Cochran officiating.
The interment will be private.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
