

Albert F. Lefebvre, age 70, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family members on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Al was born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Springfield, Mass., the son of Albert and Annette Lefebvre. He graduated from UMass Amherst with a master’s degree in business. First and foremost a loving husband and supportive father of five children, Al was also an avid golfer with a great long game. During the winters, he enjoyed downhill skiing at his family home in Okemo, Vt. He loved to attend the theater and the symphony as well. Over the years he was involved in various organizations, serving as president of Saint Catherine’s Parish Council and on the board at Burning Tree Country Club. Al was a leader in the life insurance and financial planning industry. He spent more than 30 years with Penn Mutual in New York City and spent the last seven years with Met Life in Stamford. Al won numerous awards for his sales, and was “Top of the Table” in the Million Dollar Round Table — an honor granted only to the top 1,000 members from around the world for their extraordinary levels of production. Al is survived by his eldest son, Peter Lefebvre of Los Angeles; his daughter Antoinette and son-in-law Greg Cowles of Darien; his daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Chris Cleary of Greenwich; his son Jonathan and daughter in-law Chalon of Greenwich; and his daughter Christina Lefebvre of Greenwich and Okemo, Vt. Papa will be tremendously missed by his three grandchildren, Toby, Lily and Charlotte Cowles. He is also survived by his sisters, Lorraine and Doris, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol, in 2007. Friends may call at Leo P. Gallagher and Sons Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, Conn., on Tuesday, March 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, Conn., on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Lung Association.
