

Deborah was born February 28, 1950 to Angelo and Rose Lanava in Worcester, MA. She grew up in Worcester with her brother, Tom, and countless first cousins, aunts, and uncles, whom she loved.
Deborah graduated from UMass Amherst in 1972 with a degree in Education. After graduation, she moved to New York City, where she spent her entire career in fashion. Deborah cared passionately about fashion and cherished her days traveling as a Buyer. She started her career in Merchandising at B. Altman and then spent 13 years as a Buyer at Lord and Taylor. Deborah and her family moved to Greenwich, CT in 1995. There, Deborah opened Consign Connection, a consignment shop known for high end luxury fashion. Deborah later spent 13 years as a Merchandiser for Tommy Hilfiger at Macy’s Herald Square until she retired.
Deborah was devoted to Sunday Mass, volunteered with local charities often, and was known as a dear, loyal friend. She treasured her long phone catch ups with her closest friends.
Deborah loved her family. She had two sons, Andrew (39) and Christopher (36). Deborah is survived by her husband, Michael, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Andrew Metter of Greenwich, CT; and Christopher, Katie, and Ethan Metter of New Canaan, CT.
Deborah’s funeral will be held this coming weekend in Greenwich, CT, where she requested her funeral be held. Her Wake will be at Leo Gallagher Funeral Home in Greenwich, CT on Friday, 1/3/25 from 4-7pm. Her Funeral Mass and Burial will be at St. Michael Parish in Greenwich, CT on Saturday, 1/4/25 at 10:30am where Deborah attended Mass for 23 years. Shiva will be on Sunday, 1/5/25 at 2-5pm at the home of Christopher, Katie, and Ethan in New Canaan, CT.
