Doreen Ann Dorrian Daum, 80 affectionately known as “Doney”, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and an appreciation for life’s simple joys. Doreen was born in Greenwich on October 28, 1944, daughter of the late Michael and Eileen (Gavin) Dorrian. Doreen attended St. Mary School in Greenwich. She was previously employed in publishing at Fawcett Publications, Listening Library and Weston Woods Studios where she was persuaded one time to be a voice actress in the animated short film “Arnie the Donut”.
Born with a “green thumb”, Doney found happiness in her garden, spending much of her free time lovingly attending to her vegetables and flowers. She took great joy in watching the birds that gathered at her feeders and proudly decorated her home inside and out for every holiday, with many decorations she crafted herself. Doney enjoyed reading, spending time with friends & family, learning about local history and spending time at her beloved Island Beach.
Doreen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Daum, her brother Michael Dorrian, and sisters Kathleen Dorrian and Margaret Adams. Doreen is survived by her son John E. Daum Jr. and his wife Debbie from Rye Brook, NY and daughter Alice and her husband Brian Mullins of Old Greenwich, CT. Her beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Ryan, & Heather Daum, Lily, Carolyn, Brian Jr., George & Ann Mullins. She is also survived by her sister Agnes Wargo, sisters-in law Kathleen P. Dorrian & Arlene Kuprewicz, her dear friend Marjorie Tait, and several cousins, nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
Doreen’s warmth, generosity, and love for nature will live on in the blooming flowers she once tended, the birds she adored, and the memories shared by those who loved her.
