Doris Wechsler

Doris Josephine Wechsler, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep early October 2, 2016 at Nathaniel Witherell in Greenwich, Ct. Doris was born February 17th, 1917, in New York City. She was the treasured Mother of Margie Warwick of Greenwich Ct. and Diane Hershleb of Portland Oregon and Mother -in- Law of Bruce L Warwick and Kent Hershleb. Doris was the Grandmother of Lindsay Stafford, Ashley Hanrahan, Kyle Warwick, Craig Warwick, Ben Meade, Nat Meade and Will Meade also survived by step daughter Patricia Forest and step-grandchildren Jacqueline Lambert, Samantha Lupescu and David Forest. Doris was the proud Great Grandmother, (GiGi) of 16. She was the devoted wife of Robert Rogers Wechsler who pre deceased her. GiGi lived every day to her fullest and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.. She was a kind loving human being who formed life long bonds and relationships. GiGi cherished her family, as they were the center of her life. GiGi was a beautiful woman who in the forties modeled for Saks 5th Avenue. During WWII she was active in USO supporting our troops. In the fifties she volunteered at Blythedale Children’s Hospital located in Valhalla N.Y. She went on to be PTA President of Scarborough Country Day, Scarborough N.Y. Later she continued her volunteer work at Greenwich Hospital for over 20 years. GiGi was an avid golfer and was the oldest living member of Quaker Ridge Country Club. Our family will always be grateful to her loyal aides, Carmen Farromeque, Virginia Guillen and Audrey Anderson. Doris’ star will forever shine down on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in Peace GiGi. Your legacy of love will live in our hearts forever. A private burial will take place this week and a Memorial Service to celebrate GiGi’s incredible life will be in January. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to Pathways Inc. in memory of Doris, 175 Milbank Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830.
